We go to the pond to feed the ducks.
We see many wonders.
What great luck!
Bursting with birds, insects, and creatures,
each, with their own distinctive features.
Five small green turtles swim with a purpose,
heads bob up and down on the pond’s surface.
Looking for tadpoles, insects, and small fish.
Together they make one delicious dish.
Eight soft brown ducklings by their ma they stay,
swimming and watching her all through the day,
diving for insects, water weeds, and snails,
paddling, splashing, and shaking their tails.

What a happy Spring book!
ReplyDeleteCute poem! This reminded me of my recent trip to the San Diego Safari Zoo. Ducks are everywhere! So cute! =)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great excerpt from your manuscript! I love the rhymes and rhythm. Good luck with the title. :)

Your book sounds warm and fun. Are you planning to illustrate it yourself?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the positive comments. No, I will not be illustrating it myself. I don't have an artistic bone in my body, unfortunately. :)
